Celebridades (2023)

Celebridades (Celebrities) was a year-end show for dance instructor Gisele Albano's students from three different schools: Conservatório Jardim América, Cia Terra and Instituto Cuida de Mim.
Her student shows have no set or host, it’s an open stage for students to perform, and instead they rely heavily on graphic design and screen projections to set the tone, engage the audience, and establish the pacing. The show begins with an introductory video introducing the main subject, students, and crew, followed by the making of (rehearsal and class videos), and the dance numbers begin preceded by a brief introduction of the choreography theme. The show lasts approximately two hours.
The 2023 show consisted of seventeen coreographies each inspired by a different celebrity. The required deliverables were a logo, poster, social media advertisement, t-shirts, videos for screen projections, and tickets.

Logo

The concept for this show was inspired by Andy Warhol’s Pop Art silkscreen paintings of celebrities, specifically Marilyn Monroe. I created similar colorful images for all the other celebrities represented in the show and used them as the background. To contrast with the busy, colorful images, I chose a very simple and classic sans serif font, Akzidenz Grotesk, and included star shapes, which are linked to the idea of celebrity, in the logo.
The purpose of the videos is to introduce the show, the performers and crew, and each student act, and to set the pace for the show. Each dance act was inspired by a different musical, for which I created short video introductions (maximum 1:30 minutes). The videos contain archival footage and essential information to educate the audience on each topic.
In total, there were twenty student acts, as well as opening and closing videos and rehearsal clips, for a total of twenty-three videos. Below are some of them:
