The '50s Gallery MOV Direct Mail (2020)
This project is a direct mail piece for the Museum of Vancouver 's exhibition 1950s: The '50s Gallery.
I created a 7-inch vinyl record case with a pink Cadillac pop-up loaded with other iconic 1950s objects. It plays Tutti Frutti, by Little Richard, when opened, like a greeting card. The vinyl record insert is a discount coupon. Additions are an Instagram post and two large print advertisements.
Front + insert and back
Design choices were made following the Museum's logo and website layout. The logo's colorful vector art style was adopted to create the graphic elements and illustrations. Helvetica Rounded was used for titles and Helvetica for smaller texts. Color palette from the logo and website was derived and used in the illustrations.

The illustrations are all iconic 1950s objects that were invented or popularized in the decade. The light bulb marquee uses the typefaces Creampuff and Helvetica Condensed.
Insert and Instagram post
All artwork created on Adobe Illustrator and mock ups on Adobe Photoshop.

After I posted the project on my Instagram account and tagged the Museum of Vancouver, they left a comment praising the work and asking permission to repost the project on their own account, which I promptly granted.
