Poster Layout

All print artwork done on Adobe Illustrator. Mock ups created on Adobe Photoshop. Typefaces used include Lazer 84, an '80s inspired brush script font used in the logo, to give it the aesthetics of the era, and for all the other text I used different weights of Helvetica, for being a legible, minimalist, and timeless font.

The '80s represented modernity in pop culture, introducing electronic instruments and sounds to pop music with heavy use of synthesizers, showing a clear departure from the 1970s aesthetics. It is also known for the pinnacle of "Arena Rock", with giant stadium concerts and festivals. The light glares and the keytar in the logo represent these big concerts and modern sounds.

Skytrain communication

The decade is known for boldness and extravagance in all aspects, and that includes bright, saturated colors. I picked an analogous color palette that is very characteristic of the era, with bright teal/turquoise and magenta that were popular at the time, and darker shades of blue to balance the composition. Edgy forms, solid geometric shapes with very sharp angles were also very popular in the era, so I used triangles to tie the logo together.
